What to do on a Family Trip to Kentucky Lake

Here are a few days packed with family time! When you’re ready, book your stay at Kentucky Lake!

Day 1:

Morning:

• Start your KY Lake trip out right with a hearty breakfast at Fast Eddie’s Bait & Tackle! Extremely large pancakes with a side of country ham or bacon. You’ll want to come hungry!

• Spend the rest of the morning at the beaches at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park! Open from 10am-7pm seasonally. Or, take a short hike at Kenlake State Resort Park. For a longer hike take both the Cherokee and Chickisaw Trails.

Afternoon:

• Grab lunch at J-Mack BBQ
  

• Kentucky Shores Family Fun Center
  Zipline, Go-Karts, rockwall, mini-golf and so much more!

Evening:

• Book your stay and add your accommodations to your itinerary!

• Go horseback riding at Kentucky Dam Village! From 9am-7pm Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day, there are 45 minute trail rides going out every hour. 

• After your ride, relax and take in the views of the Kentucky Dam while eating at the Harbor Lights Restaurant at Kentucky Dam Village.

Day 2:

Morning:

• Let everyone pick out their favorite donuts at Parcell’s Deli & Grille or Benton Donuts.

• Then, take a hike across the Kentucky Dam to the Kentucky Dam Welcome Center.

Afternoon:

• Pack a BBQ picnic and then head to Maggie’s Jungle Golf! Find the best BBQ places near Kentucky Lake.

• Play mini-golf and then take a walk to pet and feed all of the animals!  Visit Maggie’s Jungle Golf & Jungle Run where they have goats, peacocks, emu, ostrich, a camel and more!

Evening:

• Enjoy a fun night at the Calvert City Drive In. Arrive around 4:30-6pm to ensure a good spot. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs to sit outside your car to watch the movie. The double feature begins at dusk, but the food line fills up quick so make a whole evening out of it! Bring lawn games to play, have a picnic dinner and just have fun being together before the movies begin.

Day 3:

Morning:

• Have an adventure on the lake together! KY Lake offers many Guided Fishing Experiences for the whole family:  Take the whole family and learn how to fish! Some of our guided services will even filet your catch so you can cook it for dinner that night. Find a fishing guide here.

Afternoon:

• Have a fun day all in one spot! The kids are going to love driving bumper cars or go-karts, playing mini-golf and walking through the museum. Spend the afternoon at Forgotten Past.

• Head down the road to the Hitching Post and Old Country Store for homemade ice cream, old fashioned candy and mouth-watering homemade fudge.

Evening:

• Need to relax on your last night? Order a pizza and everyone relax out by the pool. Find pizza nearby!

• • Or, want one last exciting night before heading home in the morning? Here are a couple of options:
    • Go to the laser light show at the Planetarium at Land Between the Lakes.
    • Have one last dinner out by the water at Ralph’s Harborview Bar & Grill
    • Have dinner at Belew’s Dairy Bar or Cindy’s on the Barge at Kenlake Marina, then take a walk across Eggner’s Ferry Bridge to watch the sunset.
