Guys Weekend at Kentucky Lake

3 Days of Fishing, Fairways & Fireside Chill

Day 1: Arrive, Unplug & Ease Into Lake Life

Kick off the weekend by checking into your lakeside cabin, resort, or vacation rental—then head straight to the water. Spend the afternoon cruising Kentucky Lake, or fishing off the dock at your rental or resort, and let the stress melt away. Swim, set up for corn hole, or just crack a cold drink and enjoy the view.

As the sun sets, transition into a laid-back evening with craft beer and dinner at The Dam Brewhaus or one of several dining options. Sample a craft beer flight, order up hearty pub favorites, and settle in for easy conversation. Cap the night around a fire pit back at your lodging—bourbon in hand, stories flowing, and no alarm set.

Day 2: Fishing Lines & Fairway Time

Start the day with a guided fishing trip or cast on your own from the boat. Kentucky Lake is legendary for bass fishing, crappie fishing, and well, just fishing in general. Whether you’re chasing trophies or just enjoying time on the water, this is the kind of morning guys trips are made for. Visit our fishing calendar to see what is biting and find a list of experienced fishing guides to help you land the catch.

After lunch, swap rods for clubs and head to one of the area’s many scenic golf courses. Tree-lined fairways, wide-open greens, and a relaxed pace make for the perfect afternoon competition.

Dinner tonight is all about flavor—local restaurants serve up everything from elevated comfort food to classic steaks and burgers. Keep it casual, then head back to unwind with a nightcap and plans for one more big day. Try smash burgers at Archer’s in Hardin or steak at Fast Eddie’s, home cooked meals aren’t hard to find. Visit our dining page for a full list!

Day 3: Slow Mornings & One Last Cast or Tee Time

Sleep in and enjoy a slow morning OR rinse and repeat from the activities the day before! If you spent all day on the water fishing on day 2, consider a full day of golf on day 3! Visit courses like Kentucky Dam Village or Calvert City Golf and Country Club, Benton Golf and Country Club, Mineral Mounds, and more! Whether you’re looking for 9, 18, or 36 holes, Kentucky Lake has it covered.

For a more leisurely morning, enjoy coffee on the deck, a light breakfast and one last chance to soak in the lake views. Squeeze in a short fishing run, a morning swim, or maybe even a visit to Land Between the Lakes where hiking and cycling opportunities abound. For those who prefer horsepower over hiking boots, the Turkey Bay ATV Vehicle Use Area offers endless trail riding and plenty of adrenaline.

As evening rolls in, fire up the grill or head toward downtown Paducah for a wider lineup of restaurants, bourbon bars, or catch a baseball game at Brooks Stadium. New in February 2026, try your luck at the newly constructed Marshall Yards Gaming Facility, where gaming, food and entertainment make for a great night out to cap off the day.

Depending on the time of year, you might also find yourself in the middle of basketball season, where Kentucky Lake hosts Hoopfest MC at Marshall County High School and Murray State Racer basketball! Find plenty of places to watch games such as Ralph’s Harborview Grill, Break Time Bar and Grill, Main Street Pizza in Benton, and newly constructed Marshall Yards Gaming Facility!

Leave Kentucky Lake ready to book next year’s guy weekend.
