This flight took me into the quiet, unattended Kentucky Dam Airport in Calvert City, one of those small fields that reminds you what general aviation is all about.
The real highlight was the scenic route over Kentucky Lake, one of the largest man-made lakes east of the Mississippi, created by the TVA’s Kentucky Dam in 1944. From the air, the shoreline seems endless. Just nearby is the Land Between the Lakes, over 170,000 acres of protected wilderness, an incredible sight from the cockpit.
Calvert City may be small, but aviation makes it easily accessible and connected. That’s the beauty of general aviation, turning a business trip into an unforgettable view.
