2025 Tater Day Coming April 4-7

Tater Day 2025

Tater Day is an annual festival held in Benton, Kentucky, celebrating the sweet potato, local and regional trade vendors, food vendors, and annual carnival rides with a variety of events and activities. The 2025 Tater Day festival is scheduled from Friday, April 4, to Monday, April 7. Below is a suggested itinerary to help you make the most of this festive weekend.

Friday, April 4

  • Evening: Demolition Derby Exhibition
    Attend the Demolition Derby Exhibition at 7:00 PM, located at the H.H. Lovett Fairgrounds. Admission is $15 per person, with children 6 and under admitted free.

Saturday, April 5

  • Rural Heritage Celebration
    From 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, visit Jo Jo’s Café for the Rural Heritage Celebration. This free event showcases antique tractors, trucks, equipment, and gas/steam engines, highlighting the region’s agricultural history.
  • Classic Auto Show
    Between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM, explore the Classic Auto Show at the First Baptist Church parking lot, featuring a range of vintage vehicles.
  • Tater Day 100 Enduro Race
    At 5:00 PM, head to the H.H. Lovett Fairgrounds for the Tater Day 100 Enduro Race, a full-contact race offering stock and youth events.
  • Dog Show
    Participate in or watch the Dog Show at 11:00 AM at the H.H. Lovett Dog Park. A $10 cash entry fee benefits the Marshall County Humane Society and the Marshall County Animal Shelter.
  • Sweet Potato Pie Eating Competition
    Participate in or watch the Sweet Potato Pie Eating Competition in the afternoon; specific times and locations may vary.
  • Fireworks Display
    Conclude the day with a fireworks show at dusk at the H.H. Lovett Fairgrounds, sponsored by the city of Benton and the Marshall County Fiscal Court

Sunday, April 6

  • Cornhole Tournament
    Join the Cornhole Tournament in the afternoon; specific times and locations may vary.
  • Helicopter Rides
    Experience helicopter rides presented by Chattanooga Helicopter Tours at the H.H. Lovett Fairgrounds. Rides are $25 per person for two miles and $50 per 

Monday, April 7

  • Pancake Breakfast
    Start the day with a Pancake Breakfast from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Benton Elementary School, located at 208 West 11th Street. This event is sponsored by the Lions Club. 
  • Tater Day Parade
    Enjoy the Tater Day Parade starting at 11:00 AM at Main and Poplar Street. Line-up begins at 10:00 AM on 5th Street. 

Additional Activities Throughout the Festival

  • Casey’s Carnival Rides
    Enjoy carnival rides available throughout the festival. For information about armbands and tickets, visit Casey’s Rides website. 
  • Vendors and Flea Market
    Explore various vendors and a flea market offering a range of goods and local crafts. 
  • Couch Potato Pet Photo Contest
    Participate in the Couch Potato Pet Photo Contest, which raises funds for local animal shelters in the community.
