Teeing Up September

We’re super excited to be out here at the Benton Country Club today to kind of tee up September for everybody. How about that? I like that. That’s a nice little play on words there. Yeah. Play on words. Um yeah. So we’re gonna I think we’re gonna get some content here on the golf course. We’re gonna kind of let everybody know what’s coming up for the month of September and, uh. Yeah, yeah, it’s gonna be hot. Yeah. One today it is. So we’re gonna make the best of it. Yeah. All right, let’s hit it. Let’s hit it. You really want to get us pictures of our very first, very first hit? Let’s see how it goes. So we have done zero warming up. Um, we haven’t really even played in about a month. I mean, it went forward. Yeah. Okay. Gotta go in the ditch.

Nope. It’s just short. Just short. Okay, perfect. I’ll. We’ll take it. We’ll take that. We’re slowly first. First hit in what, a month? Yeah. Oh. Nailed it. Okay, so Labor Day weekend coming up this upcoming weekend, signaling the end of summer. Yeah, the end of boating season. But I do feel like it’s still going to be, like, warm enough. Oh, yeah. It’s definitely still feels like summer.

So from your experience, obviously the water levels get lower. Yeah, they start to lower the lake, uh, after the fourth of July. And so how much longer would you say that people have to actually bow and like, do it? Right. Uh, I mean, I think if you are going to a Marina or using a public launch ramp, you still probably have about another, maybe another couple of weeks. Yeah. Um, but be very aware of where you are making sure you stay in the main channels, watch your depths, you know, your depths, um, utensils or, you know, make sure you utilize those if you have those on your boat because it can get really shallow really quick. Um, but yeah, you still, you can still get on the water in September.

And I feel like too, like you can also just go to the beach or like there’s still ways you can shoreline fish. Like there’s still ways to be at the lake, even if you’re not on the boat. Definitely. So whether you’re accessing, um, in, in a variety of our public beaches, or if you’re over in land between the lakes and doing some of the, you know, hiking trails or some of the, the access points over there, there’s, there’s, yeah, plenty of ways to still get on the water near the water.

 Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Well, that’s, that’s good to know. That’s a question we get all the time, like, what do we do when the water level is lower? Like, can we still boat? What can we do? So I think those are like some pretty solid options. Yes, definitely. And I think if people want more information, obviously starting at our website, visit lake dot com is a great is a great place to start. Um, land between the lakes dot us. Also, they, you know, they do a good job on their site kind of listing. Yeah, different spots where you can access the water and the different lakes within land between the lakes. Like I know you were just at, uh, hematite, hematite not too long ago. Um, and we just posted a reel about hematite and I noticed a comment on there, someone saying they actually liked Honker Lake. They thought Honker Lake was was better.

So I’m like, oh, we need to go. Maybe. Yeah, we need to have another hidden gem, Honker Lake for sure. So, but yeah, those are two, those are two great resources to start for sure. Okay. And then also regionally on Labor Day weekend, September fifth, Oak Grove is having their annual butterfly festival. Yeah. Which I’ve never been, I’ve always wanted to go, but I think this year they’re releasing, I think three thousand butterflies. Yes, yes. And I think that the release is happening at four p m. So okay. I think that that’s when the big release of I mean, three thousand butterflies, I know it’s can you imagine? I bet that’s really, it’s really pretty. Um, so and you know, Oak Grove is it’s just under an hour away. Um, yeah, from here. So it’s not a bad day trip and they’ll probably have live music and food trucks and vendors and things so you can make a day of it. Yeah, you definitely can make a day of it. And I, I feel like Marshall County is like the perfect place to stay. Yes. So that way you’re kind of you’re in the middle of everything.

Yeah. We’re like home base. Yeah. And then you kind of branch out like the spokes of a wheel. Yeah. Um, so you stay at the center, stay here, stay on the water. But then you’ve got lots of options. So. And then also on Labor Day weekend, September sixth at venture River, they’re having the rumble rumble fireworks. Spectacular. Yeah. So they’re close this season. Yeah. So I think that’s going to be really cool to see. And that’s free. Okay. So that’s also something that you can go do that’s super close. Stop by our office. We have pamphlets.

Obviously the resorts and stuff here are doing so much live music and. Oh yeah. Their own fun little things. So always check our website to see what is happening locally too. Yep. Almost, almost. Hey, if there’s one thing we’re pretty good at picking up a little free ball from little freebies. Our next big weekend that we get to talk about is September tenth through the twelfth, which is pickin on a soldier’s Heart. We’re super excited for that. I think it’s gonna be so good.

I was telling, um, the West Kentucky birders the other day, I was telling them about how they said that there’s always eagles flying over Ken Lake during the music festival. And I’m sorry, but like, could it get any more patriotic than being at the Lake Eagles flying over a music festival where the proceeds are benefiting veterans? Yeah, that is like that would be a moment for sure. Yeah. Like if you’re not just like bleeding red, white and blue at that point, like I don’t, I don’t know what’s if you know, I don’t know what’s gonna yeah, it’s gonna be a great weekend. Um, at pickin on a soldier’s Heart festival is actually Thursday through Saturday.

So it’s a little bit different. It’s not the entire weekend, but, um, you know, we had, uh, Jeremy Marshall and, and, um, Jeremy Wallace, um, on the podcast not too long ago to talk about the event. Um, yeah, it was a great episode. Um, and I just, it really kind of got me in my heart. Oh yeah. Listening to that one and in the stories and just how how this particular event just does such a good job of supporting, um, two industries, you know. Yeah.

The funds go towards the, you know, to muddies water to a muddy waters and, and really helps provide support and, um, you know, just relief and, and kind of those retreats for veterans, but then also to give these, you know, independent artists a platform to play and, and to kind of grow their, um, you know, their, their fan base is, is just, it’s a really unique and special event. Yeah. We’re looking forward to it. Yeah. And I just, I don’t know that episode. So if you want to listen to this episode that we’re referencing, it’s episode number three is the one that we’re talking about. And, um, it’s just so special. Like if you just need something that is going to fill you with joy and love and appreciation, go listen to that episode. The entirety of the episode is so heartfelt and just, it’s, it’s like it might go down in history as our most heartfelt episode.

Maybe so. You never know. So tickets are still on sale, so you can, um, you can either go online and get them now and get a day pass or a weekend pass. Um, or they’ll, you know, be able to sell them and like not to jump the gun, but we might have a couple of extra tickets that we might be giving away too. That’s true. So people need to make sure they’re liking and following our social pages. Uh, because you’re right, we do have a few, uh, we have a few extras that we might be giving out. Yeah, definitely. So pick another. Soldier’s heart is the twelfth. Yeah. Then the twelfth through the nineteenth begins the Fulton Banana Festival. Yes. Which is another. That festival has been going on for a long, long time and it’s packed a couple of decades, I do believe. Uh, personally, I’ve actually never been. I’m thinking, though we may make a trip this year to go check it out and see, see what’s, uh, what what it’s all about. Yeah, yeah, that’d be really cool. I saw that there’s going to be bourbon tastings. Banana pudding. I mean, I think anything banana themed that you want is gonna be there. Yeah. So I think that that’ll be like, super cool. They also have a big concert, so they, you know, it’s got live music and I wonder who the headliner is. I don’t know. We should look, we should we should look that up before we did this. Yeah. That’s okay. We’ll we’ll look it up in between holes. And then on the day that that ends, you can come back to Marshall County and go to the Calvert drive ins. First ever Moonlight Market.

Oh, yes. Okay. So they’re having like a, I don’t want to call it a flea market because it’s not like antiques and stuff, but it’s kind of that similar vibe. Like people are going to be crafts. Yeah. Artists, crafts, I think anything like handmade or that you kind of make yourself is like going to be what you can find there. Okay. And then whenever it gets dark, they’re going to play a family friendly movie. Um, yes. Okay. So the kids, you know, the kids probably don’t want to love the shopping, but the parents are going to love the shopping and then the kids will love the movie. Yeah. So and they also have their indoor arcade now too. Yes. Yes. Yeah. And of course, we all know you go to the drive in for the burgers. Oh, yeah. Everything else is just extra, extra. It’s just extra fun. Yeah, the burgers are delicious. All right, let’s, uh, let’s see if we can finish up this whole where am I? I think I might be in the sand or something. Oh, I’m not seeing me either.

Well, I guess, um, I guess we’re gonna have to. We’re gonna have to break. Yep. I don’t know where this one goes. Well, we can just skip it. Well, let me go. Let me look at the. Hang on. If you can’t tell, we’re not we’re not playing the full nine today. So, like, it’s okay if we skip one or two or the full eighteen. We’re not playing either of those. The heat index is like one million degrees. The next thing that is kind of happening, which is happening while the Banana Festival is going on, is September eighteenth. Jimmy Fortune is going to be at the Kentucky Opry. So and Jimmy Fortune was a member of the Statler Brothers before they disbanded.

So if you’ve ever heard of them, then, yeah. Um, I’m trying to think of some popular songs that they would sing. I think it’s called flowers on the wall or flowers in the wall, or I think it’s flowers on the wall for sure. I would know it if I hear it, but I can’t. Okay. I mean, I’m not gonna sing it for you. Oh, dang. But I don’t have the voice for that, so I’m not gonna sound anything like Jimmy Fortune, so. Okay. Uh, we are lucky, though, that Kentucky Opry has been around for, again for a long time, many, many years. And they do a great job of always bringing quality acts into into the community, and they’ve got something going every Friday and Saturday, it feels like. So yeah, be sure to check their website. Even on top of their actual like ticketed events, they also have every month they have a free gospel night, a free bluegrass night, and a free classic country night. So if you want to just come try it, you know, you’re, you’re kind of new to the classic country world or something like that.

Come try it, see what it’s about, and then check out their other events too that are super exciting, like Jimmy Fortune on the eighteenth. There you go. Oh, I don’t think we ever talked about cars and guitars in Paducah, so I’m not very familiar with cars and guitars. So on the nineteenth I believe um. Car. No. Yes, yes. Nineteen nineteenth is cars and guitars in Paducah. And so it’s a huge car show with some live music vendors, that type of thing. So I think that that would be like really cool to see and see all the different cool cars. And then we’re going to transfer into one of like, what might very well go down in history as the busiest weekend in our region. I genuinely so on the twenty fourth, the twenty fourth begins barbecue on the river. Yep. In Paducah. What have you been before? I have, um, it is, it is a wild time. Um, very busy. Lots and lots of people. I mean, it’s probably the largest or probably, I would say maybe one of the most attended events in the entire region. Wow. Um, several days of just lots of great barbecue and um, other sort of your, you know, your traditional, um, fair food vendor.

Um, but you have live music, you have a lot of arts and crafts. Um, just yeah, it’s a great time then. Yep. So do that on the twenty fourth and the twenty fifth and then on the twenty sixth, you’re going to need to use your time very wisely. Mhm. Because we’ve got several different things happening. So first things first. We’ve got the dam brewhouse. They’re having their fall festival on the twenty sixth. Yep. So that’s going to be awesome. It’s going to be another vendor style event. But they always have the most unique vendors like stuff you can’t get anywhere else. Yes. And I always love I mean, the brewhouse, I kind of feel like it’s the community’s backyard.

Like it’s just, it’s a great place to just go hang out with friends, chill, get a bite to eat, have a drink. Um, yeah. And, uh, yeah, so their fall fest is going on that weekend. Yeah. So what’s, what’s your favorite beer at the brew house? Like, what should we recommend to people watching this video? Oh, wow. Well, they change quite a bit. And, uh, I am I like sour beer. So usually if there’s a sour beer, I’ll always try try that. Um, the rhinegeist, um, they’re the bubbles. Rosé is usually it’s kind of, it’s sort of my go to if it’s on tap. Yeah, always on tap. But um, but I know that that their beers that they do, they have like a key lime one. That’s what I was gonna say. That one. Yeah. It is really good. And I don’t even like beer.

Um, I can’t remember the actual name of it, but I think it’s just key lime pie, I thought. Oh is it? I think it’s just key lime pie beer or something like, you know, I’m sure it’s got a name, but I just say, can I get the key lime pie one? And I know Jess, I probably, she’s probably got a fall flavor up her sleeve to that I’m sure is going to be released at some point as well. Yeah. I would like like a Appley flavor. Yeah. Like like an apple, like a caramel apple beer. If you’re listening to this Jess can, can we do that? Can we do that please? And can it be called like the CVB?

There we go. That’d be so cool. How do you hit it? Great. But like. Whoa! Whoa! Of course it went straight. I think, I think you forgot to aim. I always forget to aim. Oh, I do too. Dang. I’m over in the residential area. Can you give me that camera? I didn’t notice that there was those houses. I don’t know if we’re gonna find yours, because I think he went across the road. Yeah, because I think I’m in those people’s yard. I guarantee I’m in their yard. It’s not looking very good. Oh, my gosh, that’s really nice. Oh, there it is right there. I’m going, I’m going, I’m going in the really nice houses yard. They probably like have a sign that says like, stay off the yard. Don’t get in the grass. Like. That is very nice. And then also if you’re into scary stuff. I’m not, I’m not. So I’m a little scaredy cat. Not really my jam either, but the. On September twenty six, the West Kentucky Paranormal Expo is happening and that happens in Graves County.

Yes. And so there’s going to be investigators, researchers, people that are passionate about paranormal experience. And that that sounds scary to me. It’s kicking off, you know, Mayfield, Graves County. I mean, they basically spend the entire month of October doing all kinds of like haunted events and Halloween events. And I mean, it’s, it is their jam. It’s what they do. So it’s really kind of the kick off to a whole month worth of. Yeah. Of stuff over in Graves County. Yes. So, so yeah. For sure. Finally, to talk to top everything off that you can be doing on September twenty sixth, you can go across the pond to the other side of, I guess like Berkeley technically. Yeah. So you can go across to the other pond. Yeah. Took a tour to their Oktoberfest.

And they’re live on the lawn. On the lawn, for sure. Yeah. Yeah. So, have you ever been to Oktoberfest? I went last year. Um, I did so, and it was, um. It was a very well attended event. Um, I was I told my buddy Justin over there, tourism director over there. I was like, bro, you need more, you need more space, dude, you’re busting at the seams. Um, but yeah, it’s a great event. Um, so they’re selling tickets for that. Uh, currently it is, it is a ticketed event. It is twenty one and over. Um, only obviously, but, but, but it is a ticketed event, but with your thirty seven dollars ticket, you get number one, twenty five pours of twenty five different beers. That’s a lot, that’s a lot. Like that’s awesome. You’re going to get to try stuff you’ve never even seen before ever. Yeah. Then you also get a commemorative pint glass.

Yeah. And you get some pretzels. Nice to really to really reign in Oktoberfest vibes. Yeah. So I think that happens, uh, daytime. And then that evening is there live on the lawn? Yeah. In which, uh, they have a Van Halen tribute band and Ted Nugent. Ted Nugent. I think the Ted Nugent one goes on first, and then Van Halen comes on after. Okay. And I hear you’re a big Van Halen fan. Yes. Oh, I definitely am gonna have to go check out the Van Halen tribute. Okay. I think that that’s going to be really awesome. So, uh, very busy weekend that last weekend of September. Lots of options. Again, we encourage everyone to stay in Marshall, stay at one of our resorts, stay at one of our campgrounds, stay at one of our hotels, motels. We’ve got lots of options, um, to be your home base for a jam packed weekend full of events. Yeah. Um, so plus as again, I’m sure there’s more. So visit us online. It’s going to be awesome.
