Outdoor Amenities

Parks

If you love the outdoors, Calvert City is one of the best places to spend time during your visit to Kentucky Lake. Starting off strong with Doctors Park, which has something for everyone. Pickleball is all the rage recently, and Doctors Park is ready for players of all ages and skill levels. They have eight courts, perfect for visitors who would like to try their hand at the great game of pickleball. The courts also have beautiful sunshades for relaxing after a few games! The other icon in Doctors Park is the Moneymaker Trail. The Moneymaker Trail is perfect for bikers, runners, and walkers who would like to get a taste of nature without getting too far off the beaten path. In addition, they have a 9-hole disc golf course, baseball fields, soccer fields, and playground equipment for the kids!

Right across the street from Doctors Park is Memorial Park, home to the city’s splash pad, amphitheater, Food Truck Fridays, and a variety of annual festivals and events. The splash pad is the perfect place for younger children to cool off without parents having to worry about anything! Keep a watch on the city’s Facebook events page for all things happening at the amphitheater. Food Truck Fridays are also a great place to get a taste of the region all in one place! During the summer months, Food Truck Fridays are held at lunchtime, and when school is back in session, they are held on Friday evenings.

The last park in Calvert City is Old Park. Old Park has one of the coolest playgrounds, complete with an awesome net climbing structure! There is also a challenging, yet fun 9-hole disc golf course, a single ball field, and a covered picnic area!

Oh, and did we mention that all of these parks are connected by a golf cart trail? Yes, that’s right, Calvert City is a golf cart friendly community, making these parks and other local businesses extremely accessible, and a very walkable distance from each other!

Golf

Calvert City Golf & Country Club is a beautiful 18-hole golf course. With a gorgeous creek running through the course, golfers are sure to experience the beauty of Calvert City and will most likely get to see some waterlands wildlife! It was recently named the best public golf course in Kentucky by Planner at Heart, a travel agency website.

Kentucky Dam Village Golf Course, another beautiful 18-hole golf course, is one of the oldest courses in Western Kentucky. The course boasts beautiful water features, elevation changes, and frequent wildlife sightings. The course is challenging, yet still beginner-friendly, and is sure to be one of the prettiest courses you’ll play in Kentucky.

The Calvert Drive-In

While Calvert Drive-In technically has an indoor-outdoor aspect, we’re including it in this section because most of your time spent there will be outside. The Drive-In shows movies just about every weekend, and typically shows a double-feature each night. Grab dinner from inside the concession stand, and play in the arcade while you’re waiting for the movie to begin! There are only seven drive-in movie theaters remaining in Kentucky, so be sure to visit this landmark on your trip to Kentucky Lake!
